I am STRONG!

Look at that little tough guy. Here is the summary of the day so far. After Jeremy's pediatrician came in this morning for a 30 minute update on Jeremy (mostly because he had to go over it twice so we could understand because we were just so tired) we headed off to the nursery. The plan was at some point take him off the cpap during the day, however when we walked in respiratory had already hooked him up to the nasal oxygen. So the day started out very great in our opinion.

We got to spend some quality time holding him. Those were the pictures we put up earlier. His tube feedings began this morning and he had 2 of them total. They went really great without any spit up. The plan was to continue the tube feeds and the oxygen as he improved. Well Jeremy had his own plan. He constantly was taking his oxygen off (which he has done in the past) and they just let him be to see how he would do. Also, he completely pulled out his NG tube (which again he has done before).

We got to try breastfeeding again. Yesterday we tried it and it was very traumatic. Two hours later is when he had his breathing problem. Today went a lot better. He basically has to start learning how to feed over again. The only problem is that he goes from calm to ballistic in 10 seconds when he is hungry. That is something I have to look forward to for the next few months. So he "fed" for about 30 minutes with me. He is used to just having the food in his belly so the concept of working for his food is a little difficult for him. Afterward, Graig supplemented with a bottle of milk as well to make sure he gets enough food to get better. So, he has gotten a lot of food at this point. We decided to grab some dinner downstairs (our big night out) and while we were gone they had to give him 2 more ounces of milk. That boy is a porker! I am going back in about 45 minutes to try to feed him again.

He had such a good day today which is such a blessing; however, we are very cautious. Yesterday he was having a great day and then he stopped breathing. So we are glad that he will have a monitor at home to help us get some rest. He won't be on it at all times, only times that we won't be with him. So I can use the bathroom or even sleep.

Another highlight of the day was having his Uncle Dan come visit. He had already bought himself a shirt that says "world's best uncle." Dan didn't pass out seeing all the wires (which everyone thought he would). He did get really uncomfortable when the nurses gave me a pep talk about breastfeeding. Another highlight was our awesome double swaddle on Jeremy. He likes to be wrapped twice.

Thank you everyone for praying for our family. Hopefully, he will continue to make progress tonight.
